Rickey Castleberry is a writer, director, and producer known for crafting expansive cinematic worlds that blend mythology, spirituality, and the cultural legacy of Black identity. With more than two decades devoted to storytelling, Castleberry has built a body of work defined by imagination, scale, and a deep commitment to exploring power, destiny, and the unseen forces that shape human purpose.
Over the course of his career, Castleberry has collaborated with major studios, including Nickelodeon, Disney, and Warner Bros., developing projects across film and television alongside some of the industry’s most respected creatives and production companies. His work spans features, television development, and independent storytelling that pushes the boundaries of genre while centering culture, legacy, and heroism.
Castleberry is the creator of The Distinguished, an original sci-fi fantasy universe set against the backdrop of a historic HBCU, where ancient bloodlines, supernatural forces, and prophecy collide. The project expands across multiple mediums, including a short film, a forthcoming feature film, a television series, and the novel The Distinguished: The Tale of Making A Gentleman, laying the foundation for a sweeping cinematic mythology.
